Instashare - Transfer files App Reviews

Doesn’t work

Devices are on the same network and it doesn’t work—ever. Waste of money.

Seems to work just fine...

Despite the few negative reviews, I took a chance on this app and it’s iOS verisons to share between all of my Apple goodies. I’ve had no issues — shared PDFs and photos to and from all devices - never failed; worked like a charm. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because the sharing does not work in the background. If the iDevices go to sleep or close out the Instashare app, it doesn’t work. Get this work at any time, as long as the devices are powered up, and it’s a full five stars.

Works great

I needed an app that would allow me to write and send papers on my computer while I am in a place without wi-fi. With this app, you can create a computer-to-computer network from your computer, connect to it with your phone, send the paper to your phone via the app, then email the paper (or any document) from your phone over cellular data. Exactly what I needed.

Bluetooth transfer not working

I bought this app primarily for the bluetooth transfer feature. I am disappointed that my mac and iphone do not find each other through bluetooth. I would not have bought the app if I would have known this flaw.

waste of money and time

dont buy this

NOTE - Does not use a web service to handle transmissions

This is a fairly good app, I like the interface, its quite functional. However, its not a Web Service, where you have an account and can get it sent wherever you are, like DeskConnect. Why does it matter, well because in the real world, you’re not always going to be on the same wifi network every time. Neither is bluetooth a convenience every time. You want a best in class app that sends content between your devices, a web service assisting the process is by far more reliable and quicker to use instead of trying to get on the same network, and working with bluetooth. These connection methods do not make your trusted devices appear easily in the installed apps. Another point, some networks for example, corporate ones, its nearly impossible to get a service like this to work. Overall, I was not disappointed by the app but disappointed that I have to return to using DeskConnect (which is ugly and combersome experience, but works flawlessly in functionality).

Waste of money

I managed to get it to work one time, from my mac to my phone, I haven’t ever gotten to to transfer from the phone to the mac. I only managed to get it to work one time. I should have done more research before I purchased it. I wish I could get my money back, but I can’t. One thing I can do is warn other people to save their money. So here go’s SAVE YOUR MONET AND DON’T PURCHASE THIS APP !! There should be some way for people to be able ro get their money back on bad apps, too bad there isn’t some kind of trial period for customers to be able to verify the functionality of apps.

Shuts down all the time

The app works but it shuts down or has an error in the middle of most of my transfers. I wouldn’t reccommend it until they get that fixed. They should also have a way to select a whole album instead of by each individual picture.

Also disappointed

I didn’t do my homework, and wrongly assumed that iPhone 5S and Macbook Pro can see each other using Bluetooth. The only way this can work is by connecting the devices using a Personal Hotspot connection (kinda defeats the purpose, doesn’t it?). Even when I did this ridiculousness, Instashare crashed on most file share attempts. I have been unsuccessful in simply putting both devices on the same Wifi network to enable file sharing. Wasted alot of time and effort. Until Apple can fix the glitch regarding Bluetooth sharing between iPhone and Macbook, this app really has no utility.

It just works!

There’s not much to say except this has been the fastest most reliable photo and file transfer app I’ve owned. It’s confoundingly simple. I have it on my Macbook and iPhone. I open the app on my phone and Mac, select a bunch of photos on my phone and drag them as a group to the Macbook icon in the phone app and lo and behold within seconds they’re on my Macbook. Period. Done. Next thing on the list...

Simple and works to transfer files between Mac & iPad/iphone

This is exactly what I wanted - Airdrop between Mac and iPad / iPhone. Worked perfectly and cleanly the first time. Not sure what everyone is complaining about but if you want a simple device to device transfer (without cloud aspect) this is a great option.

Cleaner, Faster, Simpler, Faster

Still one of the 5 best apps I’ve ever purchased for my iPhone(s). Why Apple didn’t build something like this into Mavericks/iOS 7 is a mystery - but in hindsight I’m glad they didn’t because it certainly wouldn’t be this useful (AirDrop anyone?).

the worst app ever!

really slow in sending videos. i have 1:30 video that i tried to send but every time it disconnects by it self and the sending process it self really slow.. for the one minute and half video it might takes more than an hour or two, that if it didnt disconnect and say its the other device fault on both devices. in my case it keep disonnect after 3-5 minutes. so i never got the video transferred. basically its a waste of money.. apple should have made their own software for such a thing.. i was sending from my macbook pro retina which i bought in christmas 2013 to iphone 5s. dont purchase this app!

Works great for me!

I had a 65mb pdf that I needed to transfer from my OS X Mac Book Air to my 2 iPads (one mini, one regular) couldn’t do it via email because it was too big. (Although I could have messed around with Google large file transfer which is awkward) I Googled “How to transfer files from OS X to iPad” and came up with this app…..I installed it on the Air Book and the iPads and it WORKS PERFECTLY! Thanks you for a great app!

At least Apple clearly admins it can’t send files between iOS and Mac OS

It simply doesn’t do what it claims to do. I can move files between iOS devices, but Airplay will do that for me. I want to mov e files from iOS to Mac OS. Even a simple clipboard copy attempt produces the error, “Item transfer error Attempt to connect to host timed out Transfer state: 0” Other than that, the User experien e is great. Easy to use, slick style. Just need to get the Mac desktop verson working reliabley.

Waste of money

never works. I want my money back.

Too Un-Stable, Too Frustrating, Too Un-Reliable

Update 2 (July 12, 2014; v. 1.2.2): Updated version of the app, still very spotty functionality. Sometimes it can transfer files (half the time), other times it cannot. Sometimes it crashes for no reason, other times not. Sometimes it allows you to actually delete one file (with the message “this will remove 1 file”), but most of the time it will give that message and then proceed to delete all files. Has the developer ever tried using this app himself? It’s pretty obvious where its multiple shortcomings undermine its promise. I keep coming back every few months to see if he’s fixed it so as to make it a reliable solution. The answer is: not yet. Avoid for now. Update 1: Still crapware with version 1.1.0 at least on Mountain Lion and iOS 7 (both fully patched). The iOS device never connects to the iMac to, you know, actually transfer the file. Developer also finds it too burdensome to respond to inquiries about this core functionality failure. I used the beta versions of this app for months, and while not perfect they were generally fine. This v. 1.0.1 of is a step backward into non-functionality. Im unable to transfer files at all, despite having changed nothing on my computer or network since the beta versions worked. Wait for another version with a major fix or find an alternative.

Works for me!

Exec Summary: Works for me, between old and new iPhones and a 4year old Mac on Mavericks. Never had an issue that hampered my productivity. Full Version: Given the fact that Apple, despite feeble attempts with Airdrop and whatnot, has never quite managed to solve file transfer over the air in the simple ways I came to expect from them, this product seems to be a rather ok solution for something that must bear it’s very own technical complexities under the hood. All I can say, quite au contraire of many bad reviews here: well done. It has a tendency to clutter the file list on the iPhone with duplicates and icons of wonderous origin and it seemed for a while that all icons point to the same file, but wiping the list and restarting the app (a matter of seconds) got me up and running again. However, if someone relies on the file list as some sort of permanent repository of files, this might be an issue. Apart from this the entire experience was very pleasant.

Scam

If you google this program it shows 4/5 but in iTunes it shows 2/5. The program rates about a 0.1 since it rarely works.

AMAZING!
